This traditional craft, characteristic of Van Cleef & Arpels, designing creating mock-ups of creations based on drawings. Made using pewter and rhinestones, these models are essential for interpreting the gouache of the piece in three dimensions, visualizing its volume, anticipating technical solutions, and making a preliminary weight estimate.
The three-dimensional model is submitted for approval of the aesthetic before starting production.
Model makers use files, pliers and soldering irons to shape the material.
Prerequisites: middle school or high school diploma
After use, models are stored in the workshops.

Casters transform three-dimensional wax or resin models of jewelry creations into fully formed gold pieces.
